Okay Sandy Round Two is happening outside. ☔️πŸ’¦πŸŒŠπŸ’§ 6/1/15

Hey everybody!
Another week in the ministry. πŸ˜‰ it was good, we got sunburns on Saturday and caught in a flash flood last night, and it's still pouring rain. So, New York's weather is as unpredictable as it's people.

This week was crazy. Crazy good.

On Saturday I got to go to Manhattan and attend the temple with a returning member Sister Ewell and I started working with in Bayshore. That was amazing! I love the temple and I'm really grateful I was able to go at least once a week for a few months before I came out on my mission. That gave me a lot of added strength I've had to rely on since I've been here.
I was also glad to see Sister Ewell! She's actually serving out on the end of the island now, in the Hamptons, which is right next to Riverhead. I miss that area! πŸ˜Š After we did a session we went to lunch at Olive Garden in Times Square with Lindsey and Jessica, a recent convert from Bayshore. I loved seeing them and catching up. But it did remind me of how much I've grown and learned in the past 4 months since I've been in Richmond Hill.

Manhattan is great, but I was glad to get back to the reality of New York, Queens and Brooklyn, and also to be back with Sister Becca Snow. She's a gem. And because she only has about seven weeks left I take a lot of video and pictures of her randomly to "capture memories". And she puts up with me. Haha hopefully she will still want to be friends after the mission because I'm sure I'm annoying.

Saturday night was a dream. We found and taught an awesome family. Their name is the Joseph family. It's been soo long since I've taught a family with a mom, dad, and children. They're really fun and we are excited to continue sharing the Restored Gospel with them.

Basically Sister Snow are killing it here in Richmond Hill. Not just with the work, but also in life. I'm not a huge fan of sister missionaries in general, actually most missionaries.. But Sister Snow works hard, knows the gospel, and is hilarious. So we have a lot of fun, and get work done. I love it.

Deborah is doing great, we are going to take her to the temple to do baptisms for the dead in the next couple of weeks, and she is so excited. So am I! I love the temple and I get to go back again on June 25th for my year mark. Crazy eh? I can't believe I've been in New York for almost a year. Life is weird.

Right now I'm reading the Book of Mormon, which is almost my favorite standard work. Today I read about when Nehor kills Gideon, and then is executed on the hill Manti. But even way after his crime people were affected forever.. And on a much smaller scale, obviously, I've noticed that with how missionaries conduct themselves. I've gone into areas where previous missionaries haven't been exactly obedient- and either the members don't trust us anymore. OR they think we are rude, or not fun when we won't be disobedient. I've heard too many times, from members that now the rules are more strict.. But reality is, the rules are the same, missionaries in the past just chose not to keep them. So, I'm just doing my best to be obedient and hopefully others will do the same.

I love missionary work. I love the Gospel. I love my family. I love God and Jesus Christ. I love Derek. And I love the people of New York.. Mostly.

Keep being awesome, read yo scriptures,

Sister Sammy Tenney
